The mothers thanked me

  May 9.2018

The mother’s day show was a great success. The children stood in front of their mothers, sang English songs, and gave them the presents they had made. I sang along with the children. The mothers were moved. Some of them came up to me after the show and thanked me for teaching their children. My pleasure. It’s a lot of fun too. What’s next for the kids after the excitement? Snacks and free play.

Excitement

  May 2.2018

The kids can’t wait for mother’s day. They are really excited. They have learnt the English rhymes and songs and poems by now. To tell the truth, some of them might even feel bored with all the rehearsals.

It’s a good thing that we have physical education too. It’s also in English. The children can run, move and exercise a little. At the end of the physical education there is a short relaxation to make sure they are not stir-crazy for the rest of the day. It usually helps. Not always though.

More practice

  April 25.2018

We practise the English mother’s day show every day. It goes better and better. The kids really want to do their best. They understand the importance of this day. We are also preparing some more presents for the mothers. It’s a great opportunity to practise scissor skills, drawing, colouring and gluing. Some of these 3 to 5 year old kids still need some help, but they are very cooperative. No wonder. Who would want to disappoint his mother?

Preparing for mother’s day

  April 18.2018

We are all preparing for mother’s day. It will be here soon. All the mothers are invited and the kids will perform a short show for them. The mothers will be seated in a circle on those tiny chairs. The kids will enter the room singing a song, and stop in front of their mothers. Then come some rhymes, poems and mother’s day songs. At the end they will hand over their cherished hand-made presents.  I’m excited. We still have to learn a lot!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

  April 11.2018

This week we are learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It’s a lovely English story for beginners. Excellent for storytelling. Lots of teaching resources can be found to it. Practise food and the days of the week!

One day the caterpillar was hatched out of a tiny egg, and was very hungry. So he ate through one apple. Then the next day he was still hungry. So he ate something else. By the end of the story he transforms into a beautiful butterfly. Isn’t it nice?

Easter bunny

  April 4.2018

The kids were really excited about Easter. By now they have learnt all the Easter songs. It’s amazing how fast these very young learners can learn English. They love the Sleeping bunnies song and The way the bunny hops song too. When we sing “See the bunnies sleeping…” they all pretend to be sleeping, then we tell them to wake up, and we sing “Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop…” and they all open their eyes, get on their feet and start hopping. Lovely.

Circle time

  March 28.2018

I started leading circle times with the children. We sing English songs together every morning! Up, down, turn around is our hello song. Then come a bunch of other songs and nursery rhymes. Then our good bye song is the good bye version of Up, down, turn around. The whole circle time lasts for about half an hour. It’s fast-paced, so the kids don’t lose their attention. Well, mostly.

Preparing for Easter

  March 21.2018

Easter is coming so all the activities are related to this holiday. Easter songs, Easter nursery rhymes, Easter stories, Easter games. Everything in English, of course.

The kids speak very basic English. What is your name? How old are you? What is your favourite colour? What is your favourite animal?

They know that the Easter bunny will bring some chocolate too, so they can’t wait for the holidays.

The kindergarten teacher

  March 14.2018

I started working at a kindergarten. I will be the kindergarten teacher of the 3 to 5 year old kids. The first thing is to learn the kids’ names and signs. This week I’m observing how things go in the kindergarten. The kids are really cute. They think I’m a foreigner because I speak only English to them. It’s useful and funny at the same time. Useful, because if they want to communicate with me they will speak English. And funny, because I understand what they talk about behind my back.
